Palermo Extension by car to Monreale

Same as S2.2 Palermo above with the addition of a visit to the hillside town of Monreale which lies just outside Palermo. This lovely town is best known for its Norman-Byzantine Cathedral, the Duomo di Monreale, which is an UNESCO World Heritage

site housing some 55,000 square feet of breathtaking Byzantine mosaics featuring scenes from the Old and New Testaments. Adjacent to the cathedral is its 12th century cloister boasting 228 double columns inlaid with fine mosaics, each having a unique pattern.
