Naples and pompei

Naples/ Pompeii Sorrento or Amalfi

From the port of Naples we will take you to Pompeii and your choice of Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast.
Probably the world’s most famous archaeological site, Pompeii needs little introduction. The prosperous market town was destroyed, but also perfectly preserved, by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, and since its rediscovery and excavation it has captured the imagination of millions. Our guide will bring this ancient resort town to life and ensure that you get to explore all of its most important treasures.

After Pompeii we will take you to either the calm beautiful city of Sorrento or to explore the highlights of the Amalfi Coast.

Sorrento is a charming town known for its high quality artisan products, as well as, its spectacular views across the Bay of Naples. Here you will get to experience another treat that Sorrento is famous for, limoncello! We’ll organize a special limoncello tasting experience for you and you’ll even have the option to purchase some to bring home with you, if you like.

Amalfi, on the other hand was the capital of its own maritime Duchy from the 9th and 13th centuries and equally as powerful as Venice, Genoa and Pisa. Now an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Amalfi is famous for its beautiful cathedral, it’s exquisite handmade ceramics and, of course, it’s lemons. Here you will have free time on your own in the pedestrian areas to take in this lively town, sampling its famous Limoncello, lemon squash and pastries. Get a take-away slice of pizza or a quick stop in one of the best family-style fish restaurants in town. With this option, we will also include a brief stop in Positano. Once a thriving port, by the twentieth century, Positano had dwindled to become a small but picturesque fishing village when it was discovered in the 1950s by writers such as John Steinbeck. It went on to be featured in several movies and its photogenic qualities- Moorish influenced architecture, buildings spilling down steep hills towards the sea and its views out towards the Sirenuse islands, have made it a ‘must see’ for all lovers of Italy.
